Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) Deputy Director Kong Chi Meng said yesterday that his bureau aimed to finish next month its investigation into alleged sexual abuse at the private D. Jose da Costa Nunes Kindergarten in Avenida de Sidonio Pais, according to a report by Ou Mun Tin Toi, the Chinese-language radio channel of government-owned broadcaster TDM, yesterday.
According to the report, Kong underlined that many people have been involved in the investigation, pointing out that his bureau has been sending a number of officials to the kindergarten to take statements. He said that the statement-taking process has almost been completed.
Kong said that more than 10 parents had sought help from his bureau over the alleged sexual assault cases. He pointed out that the bureau has deployed a Chinese-speaking counsellor as well as a Portuguese-speaking one to the kindergarten to provide assistance, adding that the kindergarten has hired additional staff members after the alleged incidents.
