Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said yesterday that as there was an urgent need to widen excessively narrow pavements in some areas in the city, the government has cancelled or reduced the number of parking spaces close to such pavements.
Rosario insisted that it was not the case that government has reduced the number of parking spaces in the streets just for the sake of doing so.
Rosario made the remarks while speaking to reporters after attending a closed-door meeting of the legislature’s 3rd Standing Committee, which is reviewing, article-by-article, a government-initiated bill on the city’s taxi sector.
