The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) yesterday held its first Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Family Fun Day, in Iao Hon Market Garden.

In a speech, Kong Ngai, who heads the bureau’s Department of Education, said that the nation has been promoting the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years, adding that the initiative aims to promote five major goals – policy coordination, facilitating connectivity, unimpeded trade, financial integration, and establishing new bonds between people. He underlined that promoting people-to-people bonds could enable people to gain a better understanding of each other, so he believed that it was the most important goal of the five.

Kong noted that his bureau has recently been organising various tours for both parents and pupils including visits to cities on the mainland to learn about the nation’s latest developments.
