The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) said in a statement yesterday that it will build a major rainwater drainage system in Ilha Verde district with the aim of improving the area’s rainwater discharge capacity for when a downpour hits the city.
According to the statement, the 200-metre-long underground system will start from the junction of Estrada do Canal dos Patos and Avenida do Comendador Ho Yin and stretch to Rua Norte do Patane – a street on the waterfront in Fai Chi Kei – for the rainwater to be discharged into the Inner Harbour.
The bureau unsealed bids submitted by nine construction companies for the construction of the project yesterday. All bids were accepted.
