When it comes to travelling, trying the local food is just as important as seeing the sights.

For places that grow their own produce, going there to savour the season’s best makes it a good enough purpose to travel. In this case, Japan’s rural Tottori has a lot of to offer especially for those travelling for a food experience.

Tottori is an area in western Japan (west of Osaka and Kyoto) on the Sea of Japan. It has an area of 3,507 square kilometres, of which 14 percent is designated as “Natural Parks” that are protected by law. It is also the least populated prefecture in Japan with just 570,000 people living there.
