Members of the Northern Districts Community Service Consultative Council yesterday called for tougher fines for those whose dripping air conditioners affect pedestrians, saying that the current fine of 600 patacas is too low, Leong In Pong, a deputy convenor of the government’s consultative body, said yesterday.
Yesterday’s focus of the government-appointed council’s regular meeting was on how the government can better tackle the nuisance of dripping air conditioners affecting pedestrians due to their owners’ failure to tackle the issue.
Several officials from the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) attended yesterday’s closed-door meeting to brief council members on the matter, which Secretary for Administration and Justice Sonia Chan Hoi Fan, whose portfolio oversees the bureau, also attended.
