A man from Hong Kong was arrested last week for cheating a mainland woman out of HK$240,000 in Macau, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said during a regular press conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape yesterday.

According to Choi, the suspect is a 56-year-old surnamed Leung who works as a chef. The victim is a woman in her thirties who wanted to marry a Hong Kong man.

Choi said that in late May, the victim posted a marriage advertisement in a Hong Kong newspaper. Leung contacted the suspect, giving a false name and claiming he lives in the US and runs a restaurant there.
