A local resident was arrested over a suspected arson case in a residential building in Avenida de Kwong Tung in Taipa that occurred on Sunday night, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said yesterday during a regular press conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape.
On Sunday evening, a resident living on the 16th floor of the Kam Keng Kok building of Tak Fok Hoi Keng Fa Un estate saw smoke coming from the staircase. Firefighters rushed to the building where they discovered that a rubbish bin on the stairwell on the sixth floor had been set alight. They were told that the fire had been extinguished by residents living on the sixth floor.
Choi said, PJ officers later checked CCTV footage of the building and concluded that a person living in the building had set the rubbish bin alight.
