A male mainlander was arrested by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Sunday for robbing a woman near a casino-hotel resort in Cotai early that morning, PJ spokesman Chan Wun Man said during a special press conference yesterday at the PJ headquarters in Zape.

According to Chan, the suspect is a 36-year-old surnamed Gu who claimed to be unemployed while the victim is a 38-year-old female insurance agent from the mainland. Both were visiting Macau.

Chan said that at around 3 a.m. on Sunday, the victim was walking past the resort when Gu grabbed her round the neck, throwing her to the ground. Gu demanded the victim’s valuables and threatened to kill her if she didn’t hand them over.
