Many people might have seen shadows of puppets projected onto the screen before, either on television or movies, but have you ever thought you can be holding those puppets and even making your own?
The local Point View Art Association is reviving the shadow theatre tradition in Macau with a “Macau Shadow Play” project, promoting the long-lost tradition and bringing locals a special experience of shadow play – a traditional art and way of storytelling that seems to have never existed in the city. The project has been granted financial support by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) as part of its community art programme.
In fact, shadow play is popular in many cultures but, according to Wikipedia, it’s both an ancient art and a living folk tradition in particular in China, India and Nepal.
