Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said yesterday that the government will study a ruling by the Court of Final Appeal (TUI) announced early this week – which determined that the government would need to reassess the rival quotations submitted by seven construction companies for the construction of the depot of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) – and “carry out tasks in line with the ruling”.

Rosario also said he “did not know” whether the TUI ruling will affect the government’s schedule for the LRT Taipa section to come into operation next year.

Rosario made the remarks while speaking to reporters after attending a closed-door meeting of the legislature’s 3rd Standing Committee, which is reviewing, article-by-article, a government-initiated bill on the city’s taxi sector.
