A woman was arrested on Monday for defrauding two jewellery traders from the mainland of 10 pieces of jade worth 1.21 million yuan, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Man said during a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Ho, the suspect is a 31-year-old mainlander surnamed Yang, who works as a bar hostess. The two victims are a mother and son, whose details were not provided by Ho.
Ho said that the two victims recently met a man on the mainland, who told them someone in Macau was interested in buying jade from them. On Monday morning, the victims by appointment met a man surnamed, Yang, and Guo, who is still at large, in Zhuhai. The man inspected the 10 pieces of jade, and then left.
