The Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM) said in a statement yesterday that it has approved a request by the Macau (Yat Yuen) Canidrome Co. Ltd. which asked the bureau to grant it an additional 60 days before taking back the greyhounds left behind at the Fai Chi Kei racetrack, adding that it has made the decision after considering the company’s latest greyhound relocation proposal submitted yesterday to be “feasible”.
In its latest proposal to relocate the greyhounds left behind at the Fai Chi Kei racetrack, Yat Yuen plans to move the greyhounds to 11 “privately-owned properties” where its staff and those from an animal protection group will take care of the dogs, according to the statement.
According to the statement, the bureau had ordered Yat Yuen to submit a new greyhound relocation plan because its previously-submitted proposal concerns a change in the permissible use of a plot of land – where the company has proposed to move the dogs left behind at the racetrack – which is yet to be approved by the government entity overseeing the city’s land use.
