Employees of gaming operator Melco Resorts & Entertainment marched yesterday from Avenida da Nave Desportiva in Cotai to the newly opened Morpheus hotel at the City of Dreams complex in Cotai, urging the company to raise their pay and improve their working conditions and fringe benefits.
Cloee Chao Sao Fong, president of the protest organiser, the New Macau Gaming Workers’ Rights Union, told reporters that around 2,200 of the company’s workers took part in the demonstration. The police put the number at 1,000.
Chao handed a petition containing the protesters’ demands to a representative of the company outside the hotel.
