Smoking TurboJet engine forces return to Macau

The Vessel Traffic Control Centre of Macau (MVTS) received a report yesterday that 20 minutes after leaving the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal smoke was seen coming from the engine room of a TurboJet which had departed at 1:15 p.m. for the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal, the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the bureau immediately informed the Macau Customs Service. The TurboJet was slowly escorted to the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal by Customs Service boats at 2:15 p.m.

DSAMA officials also informed the Fire Services Bureau (CB) of the incident so that it could carry out an investigation into the cause of the incident, the statement said.
