Executive Council spokesman Leong Heng Teng said yesterday that the government has drafted a bill regulating the operation of the Public Security Police (PSP).

Addressing a press conference at Government Headquarters, Leong said that the council, the government’s top advisory body, has recently completed its discussion of the bill, which aims to help the police tackle the rising need along with the city’s constant development when carrying out tasks for maintaining public security and law enforcement.

“As Macau has been rapidly developing and the population and the number of tourists have been constantly rising, and there are more and more new urban areas in the city resulting in a rising traffic volume, public security is facing huge pressures,” Leong said.
