Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario admitted yesterday the government has only recently started discussing with the city’s two public bus operators the fine print of their future service provider contracts.
Rosario made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a plaque-unveiling ceremony that marked the official opening of the Fai Chi Kei Post Office.
The Transport Bureau (DSAT) announced in a statement on Monday that the government has renewed its service provider contracts with public bus operators Transmac and TCM for another 15 months effective from Wednesday. The statement said that as the government has approved the merger of TCM and the now-defunct public bus operator New Era – which took effect on Wednesday, it only needed to renew its contracts with TCM and Transmac. The contracts for all the public bus operators – including New Era – expired on Tuesday.
