The government should upgrade the security set-up at the Outer Harbour Reservoir as there are recurring cases of people committing suicide by leaping into the man-made lake, Northern District Community Service Consultative Council member Hong Wai Tong said yesterday.

Hong made the remarks during a regular meeting of the government-appointed council in Areia Preta.

Hong said that two suicides happened at the reservoir this year, with both taking place during the daytime. He underlined that both cases were discovered by people who were walking or exercising there, but not by the security set-up there.
