The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a male mainlander on Monday after he refused to follow PSP officers’ orders and even injured one of them in Cotai, PSP spokeswoman Chong Sin I said during a regular press conference in Zape yesterday.

According to Chong, the suspect, surnamed Lai, is a 50-year-old from Jiangxi province engaged in illicit currency exchange activities in local casinos.

Chong said that on Monday evening two PSP officers patrolling near Avenida Cidade Nova in Cotai spotted Lai, who was acting suspiciously. As the two officers were approaching Lai to question him, he suddenly ran away. The officers chased after Lai and ordered him to stop in both Cantonese and Putonghua, but he refused. Lai was eventually stopped and after a scuffle was arrested by the two officers.
