The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a sales assistant on Wednesday for stealing a 2-carat diamond ring from a jewellery shop, where she worked, and selling it to a pawnshop so that she could repay her gambling debts, a PJ spokesperson said during a special press briefing in Zape yesterday.
According to the PJ spokesperson, the suspect is a local 32-year-old resident who had been arrested before for stealing gaming chips worth HK$100,000 from a casino where she worked.
Although she is waiting for her trial for stealing the gambling chips, she has stolen again, the spokesperson said.
