Unitary Police Service (SPU) Commissioner-General Ma Io Kun, who attended yesterday’s Macau Forum as a guest speaker, said that public car parks in the city’s low-lying areas must be closed whenever the No. 8 typhoon signal is hoisted.

The weekly debate programme is hosted by government-owned broadcaster TDM in its studio at the Macau Forum in Zape every Sunday.

Following the first anniversary last Thursday of deadly Super Typhoon Hato, yesterday’s focus of the forum was on whether the government’s short-, medium- and long-term measures for disaster prevention and mitigation will be useful in increasing the city’s ability to tackle typhoons and other disasters.
