During the investigation of an assault case, the Public Security Police (PSP) discovered the suspect to be an illegal immigrant (II) while all his flatmates were overstaying their visas, PSP spokesman Fong Cheong Chun said during a regular press conference yesterday.

According to Fong, the suspect is a 31-year-old Vietnamese man surnamed Duong, who claimed to be unemployed. The victim is a man from Hong Kong surnamed Wong.

On September 3, Duong punched Wong during a quarrel in Rua dos Faitioes in the Inner Harbour area, and soon afterwards the suspect fled, Fong said.
