Members of the government-appointed Youth Affairs Committee believe that language skills are the advantage that young locals have compared to their counterparts from other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), Wong Ka Ki, head of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau’s (DSEJ) Division of Youth Organisations and Training, said yesterday.
Wong made the remarks during a press conference about a regular closed-door meeting of the committee at the bureau.
Citing the members, Wong said that having English and Portuguese language skills was the advantage that local youngsters have – to which Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng, who chaired yesterday’s meeting, agreed. Wong added that local youths could make use of Macau as a business service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
