The Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) began its third round of continuing education development plans in April last year and has since found about 20 cases of violations involving scams, forged documents and fake classes, the bureau’s Continuing Education Division Chief Wong Chi Iong said yesterday.
Wong made the comments while speaking to reporters after giving a press conference on its upcoming Lifelong Learning Week at the bureau’s main office in the city centre.
According to Wong, about 110,000 local residents have participated in the latest round of continuing education programmes, during which the bureau has carried out 2,500 inspections and issued some 190 “reminder letters”, among them about 20 cases of suspected violations, the figures of which are similar to the previous subsidy period.
