A total of 194 locals received awards for their continual lifelong learning during an activity promoting this year’s Lifelong Learning Week at Zheng Guanying Public School in Toi San district yesterday.

The 194 locals received the award for attending 160 hours of lifelong learning courses per year – for at least six years in a row or an accumulation of eight years.

In a speech, Kong Ngai, who heads Education and Youth Affairs Bureau’s (DSEJ) Department of Education, said that since the introduction of the Continuing Education Development Plan in 2011, about 110,000 local residents have attended courses covered by the plan, for which the government has provided a total of 460 million patacas. He noted that 67,000 participants – around 60 percent of the total number – were aged between 15 and 40.
