Thai contemporary dancer Pichet Klunchun is bringing his latest work “About Khon and You” to the Contemporary Art Centre in Barra tomorrow.
Pichet, Hope Chiang Chen-yun, artistic director of the local Out to Production Group and Arts Inspire Across Borders, Stella Ho Nga Si, artistic director of Stella & Artists and Thai dancer Kornkarn Rungsawang sat down with MPD Weekender on Wednesday at the Oficinas Navais No 1 (Navy Yard No 1) Contemporary Art Centre in Rua de S. Tiago da Barra in Barra, to discuss tomorrow’s performance and the ideas behind it.
Pichet trained in the traditional Thai dance of khon (Classical Thai masked dance) but decided that he “didn’t do traditional” and became a contemporary dancer.
