The Public Security Police (PSP) have caught a Mongolian woman pickpocketing a wallet at the Venetian in Cotai, PSP spokesman Fong Cheong Chun said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Fong said that the police last month received a report of a pickpocketing case that took place at the Venetian. During the investigation, the police checked CCTV footage and discovered that there were two female suspects.
Recently, PSP officers patrolling at the Venetian spotted two women acting suspiciously. Later the officers saw one of the women acting as a cover while the other stole the victim’s wallet. Police officers managed to catch one of the duo – a 30-year-old Mongolian woman who claimed to be unemployed – at the scene.
The suspect from the Republic of Mongolia has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for further investigation. The suspect faces up to three years in jail if found guilty of theft.
