Japanese visitors drop 19 pct

Macau’s number of Japanese visitor arrivals dropped by 19.1 percent year-on-year to 24,900 in September, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced this week.

According to DSEC statement, the number of South Koreans decreased by 4.4 percent to 58,200 last month, when the number of Hong Kong visitor arrivals declined by 1.6 percent to 444,000 and the number of Taiwan visitors fell by 3.7 percent to 83,000.

The number of mainland Chinese visitor arrivals rose 5.7 percent to 1.82 million last month, accounting for 71.1 percent of all visitor arrivals. Visitor arrivals from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan combined accounted for 91.6 percent of the total number of visitor arrivals in September.
