Most of the guest speakers and members of the audience at yesterday’s Macau Forum panned the government’s proposal to raise the minimum age to apply for a subsidised home-ownership scheme (HOS) flat from 18 to 25.
The weekly open-air debate is hosted by government-owned broadcaster TDM in Areia Preta Park every Sunday.
The Executive Council announced last week that the government has drafted a bill amending the current HOS law. The amendment bill proposes that an applicant must be a permanent resident aged at least 25, as opposed to the current minimum age requirement of just 18.
