Short films produced by students in tertiary education or fresh graduates from the mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau are getting their silver-screen moment in a film festival opening tomorrow, also offering the public a glimpse of the different perspectives of today’s young people from the the nation’s four regions.
The “Future Roads – Cross-Strait-cum-Hong Kong and Macau College Student Film Festival” organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s (IC) Cinematheque.Passion will show 27 films, of which eight have been selected to open the festival at the cinema located at the foot of the St. Paul’s Ruins tomorrow at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Among the opening films are award-winning productions which includes “Home Sweet Home” from Beijing Film Academy, “Safety First” from Taiwan’s Shih Hsin University, “17 Years” from Hong Kong City University, and five others that the organisers have classified as “outstanding”, which include “Liu A, Sing A, and Bi Hong” from Taipei ‘National’ University of the Arts in Taiwan, “/hei˥/” from Hong Kong Baptist University, and two pieces from local students: “404 Not Blue” from the University of Macau (UM) and “Origin” from the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM).
