Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On yesterday briefed Macau’s most senior officials including his five policy secretaries on President Xi Jinping’s recent speech in Beijing on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the nation’s reform and opening-up.
In his speech on November 12, Xi voiced the hope that Hong Kong and Macau will further develop themselves by embracing the country’s cause of reform and opening-up. Xi also said compatriots in Hong Kong and Macau were expected to continue participating in the country’s reform and opening-up with sincere patriotism and a pioneering spirit, attain the greater development of the two special administrative regions (SARs) by promoting the development of the country, and jointly work for national rejuvenation, Xinhua reported at that time.
Xi made the remarks when meeting senior officials from the two SARs at the Great Hall of the People.
