The Public Security Police (PSP) said in a statement yesterday that a total of 113 sham marriages were detected between January and October.
The statement said that in their ongoing fight against fake marriages in the first 10 months of this year, the Public Security Police detected 113 such bogus arrangements.
The statement pointed out that the Immigration Department, which is run by the Public Security Police, has continued to strengthen its background checks and approval of residency applications and investigations of suspicious marriages.
