A local man who used to work at a car dealership in Areia Preta district swindled his former employer and six other men out of a total of 400,000 patacas in the aftermath of Typhoon Hato, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Chan Wun Man said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Chan identified the suspect as a 43-year-old surnamed Ng and who is currently unemployed.
Chan said that the Judiciary Police received reports from the six victims between December 20 last year and March 8 this year. Each of them told the police that in August last year their cars were damaged by the flooding as a result of Super Typhoon Hato which pummelled the city and that a friend had recommended the car dealership which could provide them with car cleaning and maintenance services.
