Government Information Bureau (GCS) Director Victor Chan Chi Ping, who is also the government’s chief spokesman, said yesterday that his bureau would continue to “encourage officials at all levels to make use of different platforms to explain government policies and measures in a simple and understandable way.”

Chan made the pledge in a speech at an annual spring media gathering, hosted by his bureau at Macau Crowne Plaza Hotel. About 80 guests, including heads and representatives of local media firms and associations, correspondents accredited in Macau, and press officials from various government entities, attended the gathering.

Addressing the gathering, Chan said, “The bureau is also committed to providing new media services, and keeping pace with the most recent development trends… and besides launching electronic publications, the bureau has activated its overseas WeChat subscription account, and it has issued 470 notifications with 220,000 hits recorded so far.”
