22 nabbed for prostitution, illegal currency exchange: police

The Public Security Police (PSP) carried out an operation in conjunction with the Unitary Police Service (SPU) on Sunday to combat illegal activities and prostitution in Cotai and around Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro, resulting in the apprehension of 22 people, according to a PSP statement yesterday.

The statement said that the Public Security Police cracked down on prostitution and illegal activities in the areas surrounding Cotai and Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro on the peninsula on Sunday. In the operation, a total of 22 people were taken in for questioning.

A total of 11 men and 11 women were picked up during the operation. The 11 men were suspected of engaging in illegal currency exchange activities, while the 11 women were suspected of engaging in prostitution. The police also found that one of the women was an illegal immigrant.
