A local dealer stole four chips worth HK$40,000 in total when on duty early Saturday by hiding them up his sleeve, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said at a regular press conference yesterday.

The male suspect, a 31-year-old surnamed Lam, works as a croupier in a casino in Nape.

He started working at the casino in October last year. At midnight on Saturday, Lin was on duty and put four HK$10,000 chips up his shirt sleeve. During a regular break, Lam went to the employee lounge. On the way to the lounge, two of the chips fell on to the floor. Other employees saw what happened and reported the incident to security. Lam then decided to wrap the chips in a piece of paper and hide them in one of the staff toilets, according to Lei.
