A mainland man was arrested by the police yesterday for stealing HK$20,000 from a passenger on a flight from Nanjing to Macau, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said at a special press conference yesterday.

Lei said the suspect surnamed Li, a 33-year-old salesman from the mainland, was reported to the police by the male victim, also from the mainland. The HK$20,000 was recovered by the police.

The police also found that Li was involved in another theft from a passenger onboard an aircraft in September on the same route from Nanjing to Macau and had at that time stolen 21,000 patacas, according to Lei.

The suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for further investigation and possible arraignment on a charge of aggravated theft.
