A Japanese woman was cheated when a mainland man she had met on an online app asked her to come to Macau four years ago when he took all the money she earnt as a prostitute from clients he had found for her to service until she left after a few months, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Lei said the suspect surnamed Gao, a 28-year-old unemployed man from Jilin, a north-eastern province bordering North Korea and Russia, has a girlfriend who is also involved in the case. The Japanese victim was 24 years old at the time of the crime and had dropped out of school.
In August 2014, the victim had met Gao through a mobile app and he had told her that he could arrange for her to come to Macau to work. Before she came to Macau Gao asked her to pay HK$60,000 for her flight ticket and accommodation, but the victim did not have enough money so Gao said that he could arrange for her to come to Macau and work as a prostitute and he could deduct the amount that she owed him from the money she earnt providing sexual services, according to Lei.
