A fire broke out in the early hours of Friday on the third floor of Kam Loi Building in Rua do Comandante Mata e Oliveira. Firefighters evacuated 12 residents, among them – reportedly – nine Filipinos from the flat where the blaze erupted, according to the Fire Services Bureau (CB).
Firefighters told the media that they had received a call about a fire on the third floor of the residential building, and on arriving at the scene, saw flames and smoke coming out of the window of the flat.
According to local Chinese-language media reports, when they went up to the flat, they found an artificial Christmas tree on fire and used two fire hoses to extinguish the blaze both inside and outside of the flat. The fire was put out within a few minutes. Six men and six women reportedly suffered from smoke inhalation.
