The proportion of local residents who are concerned with responsible gambling has increased from 16.2 percent in 2009 to 63.7 percent last year, according to the findings of a survey cited by University of Macau (UM) Rector Song Yonghua yesterday.
According to a UM statement on the symposium, Song also said that according to the survey on the awareness of responsible gambling among local residents, the prevalence of gambling disorders in Macau has gradually declined, “from its peak at 6 percent in 2007 to 2.5 percent in 2016.”
