The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a taxi driver on Monday – New Year’s Eve – for locking three passengers from the mainland inside his taxi after they refused to be overcharged, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a regular press conference yesterday.

One of the three passengers allegedly pressed his fingers onto the cabbie’s head several times during the row, causing the latter to sustain slight bruises, Ho said, adding that the former, however, denied the allegation.

Ho identified the taxi driver as a 30-year-old local surnamed Lei and the passenger who allegedly slightly injured the cabbie as a 48-year-old surnamed Lu.

This undated handout photo provided by the Judiciary Police (PJ) yesterday shows the taxi seized in the abduction case, outside the PJ headquarters.
