A fire blazed in a residential flat near the Luso-Chinese Professional Technical School in the city’s northern district yesterday afternoon, according to the Fire Services Bureau (CB).
Firefighters said they suspected that the fire was caused by burning joss papers, which are ritual offerings to the deceased, spirits and deities.
The fire broke out at about 1 p.m. in a flat on the 10th floor of Block 10 of the U Wa residential estate in Rua 1 de Maio, a fire officer told reporters.
