About eight years ago, I received a call to cover a medical conference organised by the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).
What began as a small conference, the Sino-Luso International Medical Forum, has not only blossomed into a powerful scientific symposium for the region since 2011, but it is changing Macau’s medical history.
In tandem with MUST’s Faculty of Health Sciences, the Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Centre, the Health Bureau (SSM), and Portuguese and Chinese associations, the forum’s organisers (Prof. Manson Fok, and Dr. Billy Chan) have trained nearly 10,000 frontline healthcare providers with local and internationally acclaimed doctors – from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh to Harvard to the University of Lisbon to Hong Kong University to Peking University Peoples Hospital.
