Shen Beili Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR
Shen Beili Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SARBidding farewell to the prosperous year of the Dog, we ring in the year of the Pig. On behalf of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, I would like to send New Year greetings and best wishes to people in Macao, and wish you and your families success and happiness.
The past year witnessed new achievements in all spheres of life in China, thanks to the concerted efforts of the whole nation under the guidance of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The nation’s GDP hit a record high of 90 trillion yuan and trade volume exceeded 30 trillion yuan. The three tough fights against major risks, poverty, and pollution scored initial successes. The supply-side structural reform made further headway. People are more satisfied with their ever-improving lives. The Chang’e-4 lunar probe made historic touchdown on the far side of the moon. Our second aircraft carrier set sail on its maiden voyage. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area gained momentum for development and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao grand bridge stretched like a dragon treading the tides. We convened the grand gathering to mark the 40th Anniversary of reform and opening-up; we hosted the first China International Import Expo which attracted worldwide attendance; and we pledged to carry forward reform and opening-up.
Looking to the new year, we will celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the 20th birthday of the Macao SAR. With the upcoming “double happiness”, it’s the golden time to strive for our dreams. The Office will make further efforts to advance the Macao-related foreign affairs, and make new contributions to the successful implementation of the principle of “One country, Two systems”.
