The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a 58-year-old local teacher on Wednesday for her involvement in a scam by a gang which cheated nine local women out of a total of 540,000 patacas.
In each of the cases the victim was told by a “courier company” to pay a handling fee so that she could collect a parcel seized by local customs sent by a foreign man whom she had met on a social networking site, PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a special press conference yesterday.
The suspect, surnamed Kot, told the police that she works as a part-time teacher in a school in Zape, according to Lei, who did not reveal the name of the school where she works.
