A campaign poster for the Cultural Affairs Bureau’s (IC) “Cultural Ambassador Programme” featuring mainland actress Wu Jinyan, who shot to fame from her breakout role in a popular TV series, has drawn public criticism since it was announced last Thursday with netizens doubting if Wu could represent Macau.

IC Vice President Leong Wai Man told reporters on the sidelines of an event in the city centre yesterday that the aim of having “star ambassadors” was that through their popularity, people would become interested in the programme’s “Endorsement Project”.

In response to whether Wu could represent Macau, Leong said that Wu was a celebrity ambassador from the mainland, and that the bureau had also invited two local singers as its local celebrity ambassadors, as well as one from Hong Kong.

This poster, attached with a statement from Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) last week, shows mainland actress Wu Jinyan as “star cultural ambassador” to promote its “Cultural Ambassador Programme”.
