Passengers will be prohibited from March 1 from transporting lighters or matches “by any means” on aircraft at the local airport and heliport, according to a statement by the Macau Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) yesterday.

The statement also said that from next Friday, passengers are also barred from putting selfie sticks and camera or video recorder tripods or monopods that exceed 30 cm after folding into their hand luggage.

According to the statement, the new regulation aims to further enhance aviation security in line with international practice.

These handout images provided by the Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) yesterday show signage to be put up at the local airport informing passengers about restricted and prohibited items.
