Macau’s total value of retail sales rose by 15.9 percent year-on-year to 76.8 billion patacas last year, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced yesterday.
Watches and jewellery (16.16 billion patacas), goods in department stores (12.32 billion patacas) and adults’ clothing (10.14 billion patacas) accounted for 21 percent, 16 percent and 13.2 percent of the total sales respectively.
Major retail segments recorded year-on-year growth last year, with significant increases in the sales value of communication equipment (+42.3 percent), goods in department stores (+24.6 percent), and leather goods (+24.5 percent).
