The Public Security Police (PSP) have busted a gang which had been helping non-locals stay in Macau for a long time by applying for non-resident worker quotas, a PSP spokesperson said during a special press conference yesterday, adding that the gang hired local residents who would pretend to be “employers” so that they could apply for non-resident worker quotas.
The non-resident worker permits are colloquially known as “blue cards”.
The police have arrested 32 people aged between 22 and 84 – 22 males and 10 females, 30 of them local residents, while the other two are “bogus” non-resident workers from Vietnam. Among the 30 local residents, five are suspected members of the gang while the other 25 are “bogus employers” hired by the gang, according to the spokesperson.
