The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a married local man on Thursday for allegedly cheating his girlfriend from the mainland out of 170,000 yuan (205,000 patacas) claiming that he needed the cash for his gaming business, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei announced during a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Lei, the suspect surnamed Ma is 39 years old. He told the police that he is a businessman. The victim is a mainlander in her twenties. Her surname was not revealed.
The victim met the suspect in a casino in the city centre on December 2 last year, after which they started a relationship, according to Lei.
